The title means, between Seyðisfjörðar and Egilsstaðir, two settlements in the north east of Iceland. During the last few years through my work as an artist, I have travelled extensively, predominately by car, as it is usually the only way. This has led me to look at, and be on, numerous roads all over the periphery of north-western Europe. It seems an appropriate image to use. I have made numerous drawings in such places. The snow poles show the height the snow can reach in the winter months, although the snow is falling less and less. The road paintings also illustrate our dependency on cars and in turn petrol. There is no choice when you live in Hebridean Scotland or north eastern Iceland, often there is little or no public transport available. It is a matter of survival and the green issues unfortunately have to be put to one side. Perhap's it is easier to be concerned with global warming when you are sitting in a warm city.
